Vintage Vinyl Wednesday!

This week’s track is by from one of my idols.

Rising to fame in the 60’s as the lead singer of Big Brother and the Holding Company, Janis Joplin is, to me, a true diva of rock and roll. She was known for her vibrant on stage personality, a personality that carried over into her every day life.  She also is known for her solo career, being backed by The Kozmic Blues Band and Full Tilt Boogie Band.  During this time she was known for many popular tracks, with “Me and Bobby McGee” being her only # 1. Unfortunately, her mysticism and artistry was cut short due to her  untimely death in 1970 at the age of 27.

The track “Move Over” is off of her second full length album Pearl, released posthumously in 1971 with Full Tilt Boogie Band.

This is a great track that just makes you wanna shake, rattle, and roll. You get to hear quintessential Janis with her feminine but gruff drawl that makes her “The Queen of Psychedelic Soul”.

While nothing can beat the original, here is a pretty neat dubstep remix of Move Over that I was introduced to recently
